NEW-PEN-DEL WATER TRAINING AT BLUE MARSH LAKE 2017

NEW-PEN-DEL WATER TRAINING AT BLUE MARSH LAKE 2017

We are, once again, offering an opportunity for club members and friends to water train at Blue Marsh Lake in Leesport, PA (Reading area). We have scheduled sessions at the Old Church Road area of the facility from 8 am – 12 pm on the following dates:

Sunday, June 4

Sunday, June 11

Cancelled Sunday June 18 (due to Paws n Claws event on Saturday at Round Valley)

Sunday, June 25

Sunday, July 9

Sunday, July 16

Sunday, July 23

Sunday July 30

Sunday August 6*** ( this date is reserved at Blue Marsh but it is the same weekend as CNC water tests and it will be announced if this session will stand, be cancelled or rescheduled)

The early time is necessary to allow us to set up in this public area of the park and have use of the area before the recreational park visitors arrive for normal weekend use.

This area of the Park has easy access to the parking lot, picnic tables, portable rest rooms and some shade. There is no charge for entrance.

If you are interested in attending please contact Andi Ottey at 610-304-3159 (cell) or andiaho@aol.com

To facilitate organization we are asking that people please call to let us know you are coming and the approximate time.  If the weather is questionable please call the above cell number before 7 am if you have not been contacted about cancellation via the communication list.

Also, if possible, we are asking that after you are finished working with your dog that you stay to help the next person with their dog if needed. This will ensure that we have enough helpers for all who attend and it is also a good way to learn..

Additional Information

This activity is for dogs and owners of all experience levels or NO experience level who are interested in teaching their dogs the NCA water test exercises.

Dogs must be on lead (and under control) or crated and away from the immediate

training area unless it is their turn and they are actively working in the water. NPD

safety policy will be in effect. Details of policy on www.newpendelnewfclub.com

There is plenty of room to easily observe off the shoreline area.

Things to bring:

Fresh water for your dogs and you. Training treats, a long lead, foot

protection (water shoes or old sneakers), a life jacket (required) to wear while working

with dogs in the water, and a bumper or similar item for your dog to retrieve. If you have

additional water training equipment please label it and bring it along.

Please clean up after your dog.

There is no food available but feel free to bring your own snacks and/or picnic lunch.

***** Please note that a USCG life jacket must be worn when on board a boat (or other watercraft device) while working with the group. The PA Fish & Boat Commission may fine any operator who mans a boat on which there is not a USCG wearable life jacket on board and readily accessible for each passenger or for any child under the age of twelve who is not wearing a USCG approved life jacket.
